Bringing on the boiler with an Underfloor zone

Normal operation

It is standard and recommended practice for the underfloor heating wiring centre to have cables run back to any zone valves or boilers from the 'Call for heat' terminals in the wiring centre. This ensures that the wiring centre will only bring on the boiler when at least one of the actuators is open due to a call for heat from one of the zones.

As standard, the Genius Hub does not call for the boiler to be switched on when an Underfloor zone is calling for heat, because this cable should be in place. Underfloor zones therefore never switch on the My House devices.

This setup is the one shown on our wiring diagrams and schematics.

If there is no cable running back to the boiler/zone valve

If there is no cable running from your underfloor heating back to the boiler, this can be solved in the app.

Underfloor zones cannot switch on the My House devices themselves, but you can enable them to call for heat (like a Radiator zone) as follows:

Removing the boiler controller from My House

  1. Go to the My House page

  2. Click on the zone sub-menu (•••) and select My House Setup

  3. Unassign the Single or Dual Channel Receiver that controls your boiler from My House by clicking the dustbin next to the device

Setting up the new zone

  1. Create a new group zone (see group zones in the User Manual for more details)

  2. Assign the Single or Dual Channel Receiver channel that controls your boiler to the new group zone using Assign Devices

  3. Go into the new group zone, click on the zone sub-menu (•••), then on Zone Setup

  4. Link all of the zones in your home which you want to bring the boiler on (this will be all of the Radiator zones and all of the Underfloor zones)

Your boiler is now controlled by all of the Underfloor zones as well as the Radiator zones.
