Step 1

The Smart Plug should always be plugged into a working socket. When the Smart Plug is providing power to the front socket, the red light is on. If the light is off, press the button. If the light doesn't come on then the Smart Plug has no power.

Let's take a look at what could cause a loss of power.

First, check if the socket is switched on, if it is a switched socket.

Step 2

A lack of power could also be caused by the socket not working.

To check this unplug the Smart Plug and insert a known working device such as a lamp and see if the other device works.

Step 3

The problem could also be caused by a circuit breaker that has tripped.

Check the relevant circuit at the Consumer Unit to ensure that the correct circuit is turned on for your heating system.

If this trips again, one of the devices on the circuit has an electrical fault and should be investigated by a competent professional.

Do not do anything with electrical wiring, unless you are confident and competent to do so!

UK legislation says that:

" A competent person is someone who has sufficient training and experience or knowledge and other qualities that allow them to assist you properly. "

We may mention in these instructions to do checks on wiring - if you are not a competent person, then you should have an electrician carry out these checks.

Unfortunately, Genius Hub are unable to provide assistance with checking wiring. An 'electrically competent person' will be able to use the wiring diagrams that we provide to check or install a Genius Hub system. To see our map of registered Genius Hub Trained Installers, Click Here .
