To begin:
Go to the 'Create Your System' part of the Genius website and answer the first 3 questions about your current heating system (such as whether you have a hot water tank).
For the wet underfloor heating:
Add one zone of 'Wet Underfloor' per room you are going to control.
When you are asked whether this is for a JK system, select 'Yes (JK)'. This will add the first Underfloor Wiring Centre to your order.
For each zone, select whether you want a Room Sensor or Room Thermostat to measure the temperature.
During the installation, JK do not normally install a control cable from the manifold to the boiler. Unless you have been told otherwise, you will need to add a 'Group' zone for your underfloor heating so we can call on the boiler (or relevant heat source).
For radiators you are controlling with the Genius system:
You don't have to control every room to reap the benefits of the system!
Many of our customers choose to, however, as they like to have complete control of their home. The thing to consider is how you will choose to schedule the rooms once you have the system installed. If you were to consider hallways or a main bathroom, would you schedule those rooms to be on whenever you are at home? If so then there is possibly little point in putting an electronic valve on those radiators, apart from the fact that the electronic valves in themselves are far superior at controlling the room to a stable temperature than a TRV (thermostatic radiator valve). In rooms that often overheat the electronic valves are excellent at stopping this. Another thing to consider; if you have an upstairs hallway where you plan to turn off upstairs and bedrooms during the day, and only have them coming on in the mornings and evenings, then it would make sense to put electronic valves in all of the rooms that you want to turn off or down during the day, as this is where you can start to make really significant savings on your heating bill.
The same solution applies to rooms that you do not use all of the time, such as spare bedrooms or other infrequently used living areas of the home. If you are prepared to turn those rooms on and off manually whenever you plan on using them, then you can leave the existing TRV valves on those radiators. However many of our customers like the fact that with the Heat Genius system it is easy to use, and now that you have complete control of every room at the touch of a button, it is no trouble to turn rooms up and down, so you generally adjust the rooms more often and save more energy because it is really easy to do.
Genius Radiator Valves should not be installed within 60cm of water sources (e.g. baths, showers or sinks).
We would recommend that you put room sensors into all of the rooms that you use all of the time, as this means you can use the footprint mode where the system learns which rooms you use, so you don’t need to worry about scheduling the times and temperatures in those rooms. The Genius Hub simply remembers when you use the rooms and makes sure they are warm when you need them to be. If any of your rooms are linked to others, such as ensuite bathrooms, hallways or a main bathroom, then we recommend that you don’t always need to put room sensors into these rooms. With the Heat Genius system you can link the rooms together on the app but still have them at different temperatures, so, for example, when a bedroom comes on so does the bathroom that it is linked to. This makes setting up the rooms much easier as you only need to think about the rooms that you use all of the time.
