The following explains how to re-add an existing Wireless Radiator Valve (Genius Valve) to a Genius Hub.

If you have an existing Genius Valve it will need to be factory reset before it is connected to a Genius Hub.

See here for how to factory reset a Genius Valve

  • Make sure that the Genius Valve is within 2 meters (line of sight) of the Genius Hub (the part that is connected to your Internet router).

If the devices are not close enough together, then use either of the following steps:

    1. Unmount the Genius Valve from the radiator.

This video shoes how to remove and refit the Genius Valve.

    2. Move the Genius Hub closer to the Genius Valve. The Genius Hub must have power and an Internet connection. This can be done by:

    a) Using a long Ethernet cable

    b) Plugging the Hub into a different Ethernet switch

    c) Using a Power Line Ethernet adaptor or WiFi booster which has an Ethernet port (see this link for how to connect the hub with a power-line Ethernet adaptor)

  • Choose the Genius Valve which needs re-adding from the list below

The app displays a list of the available devices

  • The device needs to be removed from any existing zones before being re-added to the system

Alternatively, the device can be manually removed from the zone it is controlled in, by going to the Zone Setup and clicking on the relevant 'Bin' icon.

  • The old Genius Valve needs to be removed from the list of devices as this no longer exists.

See Chapter 10 of the Manual for information on removing the dead node.

  • Now the hub needs to get ready to add the device.

On the app tap on Menu, then Settings and then Devices. Now tap on 'Include device' and follow the prompts on the app.

  • Press and release the middle \ o / button.

The letters or numbers on the screen of the valve are not important at this point.

The screen backlight should quickly flash, then slowly flash, then stop flashing when the device has included successfully.

On success, the Genius Valve has been assigned a number, write this number on the side of the device.

The success or failure of the inclusion will be displayed on the app.

  • If not already, re-install the Genius Valve onto the radiator.

  • Now pick a zone to assign the Genius Valve to.

See Chapter 13 of the Manual for full guidance on assigning the channel to a zone. To create a new zone to assign the device to see step 5 otherwise skip to step 6.

  • See the 'Create new zone' section under Chapter 13 of the Manual for guidance on how to create a new zone.

  • To ensure check the device has been correctly assigned open the zone's page, tap "Zone Setup" under the menu and check the channel is listed under "Zone Devices".
