The following explains how to re-add an existing Wireless Radiator Valve (Genius Valve) to a Genius Hub.

If you have an existing Genius Valve it will need to be factory reset before it is connected to a Genius Hub.

See here for how to factory reset a Genius Valve

  • First, take the Genius Valve back to the Genius Hub (the part that is connected to your internet router) so it is within 1 meter of the Genius Hub with nothing in between.

This video shoes how to remove and refit the Genius Valve.

Remove the battery cover. Do this by placing a fingernail at the bottom of the battery cover, pulling the catch up (in the direction of the screen) and compressing the slit next to the catch. The battery cover hinges at the screen end of the valve.

Ensure there are new batteries in the Genius Valve and they are correctly oriented.

Note: both of the springs are at the top of the valve but one battery points up and the other points down.

Replace the battery cover, starting at the top.

  • Now the hub needs to get ready to add the device.

On the app tap on Menu, then Settings and then Devices. Now tap on 'Include device' and follow the prompts on the app.

  • Press and release the middle (o) button.

The letters or numbers on the screen of the valve are not important at this point.

The screen backlight should quickly flash, then slowly flash, then stop flashing when the device has included successfully.

On success, the Genius Valve has been assigned a number, write this number on the side of the device.

The success or failure of the inclusion will be displayed on the app.

*** Verification Test to ensure new node ID & hash = WRV hash ***

  • If not already, re-install the Genius Valve onto the radiator.

  • Now you need to finish the steps here and then add the Genius Valve to a corresponding zone on the app.

Assign the Genius Radiator Valve to a zone. See Chapter 13 of the Manual for information on assigning your device/channel to a zone.

*** Assign device to zone ***

  • You also need to delete the old Genius Valve from the list of devices as this no longer exists.

Remove the old Genius Valve from the system. See Chapter 10 of the Manual for information on removing the dead node.

*** Remove the dead node, using the node ID passed through from the start of the wizard if possible ***

Do not unplug the Genius Hub for at least 30 minutes so the hub has time to save the new settings.

    • No labels
