In many of your zones the devices for that zone will have physical controls you can use to adjust the heating, such as the buttons on a Radiator Valve. From the zone setup pages, you can choose whether these buttons should be permitted to affect the heating in the zone, and how they affect the heating. The default setting for a zone is ... check_me

  • When manual override is disabled, any button presses on devices will be ignored by the system and the heating will carry out its normal schedule.
  • When manual override is enabled, the device can be used to put the zone into override mode without having the use the app. When you enable manual override you also choose the duration of the override from the devices in the zone, and the override temperature you want to use if none is selected on the device.
Info

You only need to adjust one device in the zone. So if you have 2 Radiator Valves in the same room the system will take the override from one device and relay this new information to all of the devices in the room.

You have different levels of override control possible, based on the device you are adjusting:

  • On the Room Thermostat (DA-WRT-C) you can set the temperature of the override from the device. To override a zone from the thermostat:
    1. Press the up or down button until the desired temperature is reached. The zone will now override to the set temperature for the duration set on the app. If you stop at this point the system will use the override duration set on the app for this zone.
    2. If you wish to set the duration of the override, press the top button once for each hour you would like the override to last for. The zone will now override to the temperature and duration set on the thermostat. check_me

Info

In an On/Off zone, you can override the zone, but only by switching it On or Off. The On and Off buttons on the Single and Dual Channel Receivers and the buttons on the Electric Switch and Smart Plugs can be used to override their respective zones.

If you have a device in the My House, such as a Receiver unit controlling your heating or a Thermostat reporting the temperature to My House this can be used to affect all of your Radiator and Underfloor rooms with one manual override.

  • For a Single or Dual Channel Receiver you can press the respective on button (as detailed above) and all of your Radiator and Underfloor rooms will override to the temperature and duration set in My House.
  • For a Thermostat you can adjust the temperature (as detailed above) and all of your Radiator and Underfloor rooms will override to the seelcted temperature on the device and to the duration set in My House.

For more information on manually overriding devices, see the Override Mode chapter. This setting is shown in all zones types.   check_me

Pre-heating

The Genius Hub can automatically calculate the pre-heat duration for a chosen room, so that the room will reach the set temperature at the start of the ‘heating period’, rather than just starting to heat up at that time. Your Genius Hub is adaptive, so it's always learning from the temperature recorded by each room sensor. Using the local weather data and the heating history for each room, it will constantly adjust the pre-heat duration as the weather changes. This default setting for pre-heating is disabled. check_me
