The Genius Hub is on your home network and is protected by the firewalls set up on your broadband Internet router.
When you register your hub you give it a secure
You register the Hub with a username and password which only you hold and this gives you access to your system from within your home or outside your home through your internet router. All of the data and intelligence of the Heat Genius system is stored on your Hub and your data is your property. We have chosen this over a cloud based system as this means that your system is safer from attack as you are connecting directly with the Genius Hub in your home rather than via our servers.
The system has also tested by security experts though 'penetration testing'. This allows us to ensure that we are always taking steps to maintain maximum security for your system- please ensure that you choose a strong password, and do not give the password out. Heat Genius staff will not ask you for your password.

When you are on your Home network, your device (phone / tablet / desktop PC) communicates with your Hub directly. No traffic passes over the Internet, or outside of your local network.

When you access the system remotely, by default a HTTPS connection is made to the Heat Genius server. If you are using a web browser, you can ensure that the connection is secure by checking that you can see the 'green bar' in the address bar:

All data that passes between your Hub and the Heat Genius server is sent over an encrypted TLSv1.2 (which is the latest industry standard cryptographic protocol) channel, which means that the information sent can only be understood by the server and the Hub, and also guarantees that the Hub is communicating with a real Heat Genius server.

The whole system is also audited by external 3rd party security experts, in what is known as 'penetration testing', in order for us to be confident that the overall system is secure.
