If a Genius Radiator Valve needs to be removed from a radiator it cannot be just unscrewed it needs to be put into 'Mount Mode' first.

These steps are very important to follow; so that you do not damage the valve when you are taking it off or putting it onto a radiator.

Step-by-step guide:

To remove the Genius Radiator Valve

  • Press and hold the middle /°\ button on the valve until a 'M' appears on the screen.

  • Press the middle button once more, and the valve will 'buzz'.
    • After 10 seconds the 'M' will flash and the valve will feel loose.
  • Apply firm pressure to the top of the valve and rotate it like a screw anti-clockwise until the valve is removed off the radiator.
    • The thread is like a medicine bottle and you need to apply pressure to the top of the valve to engage the thread inside the valve to be able to remove it.
    • M30 adaptor: The adaptor is most likely to remain with the Genius Radiator Valve, but if it remains on the radiator this is not a problem.
    • RA adaptor: The adaptor should remain on the radiator, but can easily be removed using a hex key.

  • Press and hold the middle /°\ button on the valve until the 'M' stops flashing the the valve will 'buzz'.
  • The valve is successfully mounted back on the radiator when the screen shows the target temperature when you press the middle button, and it is stiff if you try to rotate the valve.

If you have difficulty removing the Genius Radiator Valve or the ring adaptor

Sometimes, the Genius Radiator Valve or the M30 x 1.5m / RA adaptor ring may be stubborn to unscrew. Here is a guide on unscrewing the Genius Radiator Valve in this instance

  • Take off the battery cover and remove the batteries.
  • Rotate the valve clockwise until you see a hole appear in the slot which was between the batteries.
  • Using the hex key that comes with the Genius Radiator Valve (or a very small screwdriver), place it through the slot and into the hole.
  • Holding the tool firmly in place, unscrew the valve anti-clockwise until the valve comes off. Depending on the fitting, the valve may be quite stiff to begin with.
